"The Lost Boys" opens with Lucy Emerson and her two kids, Michael and Sam, moving to
Santa Carla, California, to live with Lucy's quirky dad.
Michael follows a girl he just met; Star, to a beach concert one night, when he runs into
David and his biker crew. They encourage him to join them, and he undergoes a bizarre and
exciting initiation ceremony that involves hanging from a railroad track bridge after
drinking what he thinks is wine. This event, unbeknownst to Michael, marks his change
into a vampire. Sam, the younger brother talks with the "Frog brothers", Edgar and Alan,
who run a comic book store and think Santa Carla is plagued with vampires while, Michael
begins to develop weird symptoms and urges.
Sam and the Frog brothers devise a plan to save Michael. They discover that the only way to
kill a vampire is to stab them in the heart. Meanwhile, Michael fights with his sudden
bloodlust and the idea that he is becoming a night creature.
The conclusion takes place in David's lair, an abandoned hotel. Sam, the Frog brothers, and
Star team up to take on David and his gang. A combat with vampire-slaying equipment and
suspense follows. Michael finds himself torn between his love for Star and his wish to
avoid the vampire metamorphosis.
The Frog brothers triumph over David in an exciting fight, but Michael must still confront
his own vampire impulses. They then discover that the true head vampire is their mom's
new boyfriend and have to fight him. He's is eventually defeated when their grandfather
comes home in his truck stacked with stakes and impales the vamp.
My Rating
8/10
Originality of Story/Characters: The plot of the film is a classic vampire tale with a comedic twist and it is very fun and hardly scary at all. The humor is very original especially if you're not used to the way people talked 36 years ago.
2/10
Cinematography: Very headachy in certain scenes and there's nothin very memorable from the movie in terms of how well a scene was shot.
8/10
Soundtrack Use: I loved all the songs used and they are all to my taste and I think they added a lot to the movie. Especially in funny scenes and in the climax.
8/10
Re-watchability: This movie is very hard not to rewatch because of how funny it is and not corny when it comes to jokes. Simple as that
